Stunning Sri Lankan Wedding #MeenagotHIManshu

Weddings are a once in a lifetime occasion. Weddings are made of dreams and hopes for not just the couple involved but also both families. When a couple is taking a pledge of togetherness and commitment to each other in front of their family and friends, you just can't help but fall in love with them just as we did with Meena and Himanshu.

We had the pleasure to be part of Meena and Himanshu's beautiful Tamil Srilankan fusion wedding at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. Our made for each other couple are both busy doctors. They wanted a fairy tale wedding but simply didn't have the time or know where to begin with wedding planning. Once they booked the venue, Mint to be stepped in and assisted in every aspect of their wedding to make their day perfect and stress free.

We spent some quality time with the busy bride and groom and developed a time line for the pre-wedding ceremonies, wedding day and reception and planned all the logistics around it.

The mehndi function/welcome party started off the wedding festivities where guests from around the world enjoyed delicious food by Masala Art and music by BSL. Rather than hosting a separate mehndi event, we arranged for mehndi artists to come to the sangeet and apply it on all the guests.

Meena and Himanshu wanted a traditional Srilankan ceremony and so we discussed with the family to see what traditions they wanted to incorporate and what decor suited their vision. We worked with the amazing Shoba Shastry from Alankar and secured a brand new customized (manavari) mandap built and shipped from India. It added just the right touch and brought a little bit of Srilanka to the Royal Sonesta. Flowers by Dogwood only accentuated the beauty of this magnificent mandap. The mandap was Simple and elegant but made quite an impactful statement.

What an amazing way to decorate the entrance!

The arrival of the groom (baraat) was one of the highlights of the wedding! Family and friends cheered Himanshu as he made his grand entrance with his closest friends and family on a beautiful yacht provided by our vendor Par tee time. The groom and his buddies were jamming out to Ravi's Dhol from BSL and making sure everyone heard them loud and clear! Once on land, Himanshu decided to continue his baraat in a more traditional way with a gorgeous white horse from Boston Bridal Carriage. Of course, BSL had the crowd dancing and cheering on the street!

Our gorgeous bride looked stunning thanks to Herneet Singh and Shreni Patel in her traditional Sri Lankan outfit.

Once the ceremony concluded, guests made their way to lunch and a short break to rest up for reception and give the couple time to refresh and enjoy a few moments as husband and wife.

During the planning process, Meena really wanted people to feel the beauty of Boston. The Royal Sonesta backdrop is the skyline of Boston. You cannot get luckier than that! The outdoor cocktail hour allowed guests to enjoy the beautiful Boston Skyline while they enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres and their signature drink - the strawberry mule. YUM! Greg Brett Photography and Films with Heart did an amazing job capturing the day. Just look at these pictures. They are simply breath taking!

Our onsite team along with Dogwood Floral prepared the grand ballroom for the the reception in accents of purple and gold through the use of Table numbers, menus placed at each setting, and seating cards.

BSL welcomed the bride and groom as they did their first dance together with beautiful music and then had the crowd on their feet with amazing tunes and music during the rest of the reception!

Desserts provided by Cookie Creative by Jennifer were to die for! Fresh chocolate dipped strawberries, red velvet shots, colorful macaroons, oh my! This is when dessert before dinner is totally the best idea!

The night ended with a promise of a lifetime of happiness. We just love weddings and we love Meena and Himanshu!
