Shrey and Howard's Hin-Jew Celebration

Fusion weddings always present unique perspectives of what marriages are. In the case of Shrey and Howard's Hindu Jewish celebration, while the cultures were different, we learned that traditions are practically the same, just the translation that is different.

The sangeet was held at the Newport Marriott where both sides of the family met for the first time. Like with most weddings, this night was simply an ice breaker from all of the traditions to get to know the bride and groom, and their families a bit more. The night welcomes appetizers from Rasoi and an open bar. The bride and groom were announced after a half hour in, and in typical Punjabi fashion the event turned into a dance party with tunes from Boston Sound and Light Company.

Later in the evening, Shrey and Howard shared their personal stories holding up shoes playing the infamous "shoe game"

And when the moment allowed, the bride and groom snuck out to take advantage the beautiful balconies of the Newport Marriott to have some alone time.

The wedding day was held at the gorgeous Belle Mer. The morning began with a baraat, the groom's procession alongside the gorgeous water surrounding Goat Island. Howard sat on top of a horse, in typical Indian fashion to meet his beautiful bride at the Indian alter, called the mandap.

Our bride, Shrey couldn't resist the baraat fun and peaked out window.

Once the baraat completed, the two families met in what is called the "milni" where family members greeted each other with hugs and garlands, and then everybody pursued inside the Belle Mer for the Indian Wedding ceremony.

After the Indian ceremony was finished, guests continued outdoors to start the Jewish ceremony, which like the Indian ceremony featured a 4 pillar structure called the chuppah.

After getting married twice, everybody prepared for the cocktail hour and dinner reception. The reception featured amazing decor and florals by Creative Ambiance Events. Guests danced on Boston Sound and Light's Star-lit White dance floor. And the program highlighted kind words and dances by family and friends.

And everybody partied the night away.

Thanks to all the amazing vendors!!
